With gamescom taking place next week, everyone is expecting a lot of Battlefield 1 news and details to be revealed at the show.

We already know new footage is coming, and it's been suggested before that the beta will go live shortly after the show. EA is seemingly getting ready, too, as the publisher made an update to the Battlefield Insider programme over the weekend.

Now, you can only select one platform as "preferred" in your preferences. Because Battlefield Insiders are promised early access to the beta, selecting this option determines the type of beta code you get.

There's been also some news about the content of the beta. Although we've yet to get any actual details as to the changes from alpha to beta, new content has been promised.

As Westie notes in his video recap above, this could be anything from a new map, to some new weapons and vehicles. Going by DICE's history with the various Battlefield alphas and betas, it's probably safe to assume the map will be unchanged.

Westie points out, though, that previous alphas were under NDAs for their entire duration, restricting participants from sharing footage with the public. In Battlefield 1's case, things were a bit different.
