Battle.net & League of Legends services down, following DDoS attacks
Battle.net and League of Legends services have been taken down by DDoS attacks, following a similar assault on Steam and EA's Origin store.
We first noticed the issue when trying to confirm a source for this Hearthstone story. We had to use a cached version of the page to read Blizzard's blog.
One trip to Google later confirmed that yes, people are experiencing problems on Blizzard's service. We then spotted that Kotaku had updated its story on the Origin DDoS attacks to say that the same group has indeed targeted both Battle.net and League of Legends.
We reported on the Steam store outages and Origin hacks today. Hit the subsequent links to see how both services have been affected.
The same hacker group - titled DERP - has claimed responsibility for all of the attacks, save for Steam, which is being carried out by another pair of hackers.
DERP stepped forward to take responsibility for the Battle.net attack on Twitter:
We'll have more on the mater as it comes.
