Attack on Titan 2 is coming in March - get ready with this new trailer
First of all, spoiler warning - the trailer embedded below is full of details from season 2 of the anime, so proceed with caution.
Attack on Titan 2, the follow-up to the surprisingly great 2016 original, is going to release on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Switch on March 20 in the west. The plot will (if this trailer is anything to go by) closely match the action from season 2 of the anime, which shifted focus off of Eren for long stretches to explore other characters, like Ymir.
The trailer below mostly shows cutscenes, including several scenes lifted directly from the anime and translated into 3D. The battle system in the original was pretty solid, and this time part of the focus has been on making the titans scarier than before.
This will be the series' first time on Switch. In Japan, a version of the game will also release on PS Vita, but we won't be getting it in English-language countries.
If you haven't seen the incredibly popular anime that the games are based on, the premise is that giant Titans mysteriously appeared in the world one day, and humanity has had to wall itself off from them to ensure its survival. But when the show starts, Titans capable of breaking through the walls, or infiltrating the ranks of humanity in disguise, start to appear. To defeat a Titan, scouts use special maneuverability gear to hook onto the Titans and slash out the napes of their necks, which is, for some reason, the only surefire way of killing them.
Darting around in the original made it feel like an ultra-violent Spider-Man game. Hopefully the sequel is even better.
