Assassin's Creed Syndicate is having one of the most lukewarm fan receptions this year. Will critics lean the same way?

Ubisoft's latest entry in the Assassin's Creed franchise is Syndicate. The game is set in 1868 London during the Victorian Era. It stars brothers Jacob and Evie Frye in their quest to control the criminal underworld of the city. Both characters are playable, making it the first game in the series to have a playable female lead.

Each of London's seven boroughs has its own Templar-backed gang, which the Fryes have to get rid of. For the first time, the game features vehicles in the form carriages, as well as a new hand-to-hand combat system unlike any of the older games.

In the Middle East, Syndicate will be fully localised in Arabic, complete with dialogue dubbing.

Here are all the reviews so far. Scores are out of ten unless where noted.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate is out October 23 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The PC version is due out a few weeks later.
