Assassin's Creed Rebellion is coming to Android and iOS "soon", Ubisoft has announced. The free-to-play mobile effort was developed by Behaviour Interactive, and boasts a "new artistic direction".

Ubisoft said Assassin's Creed Rebellion has players building a brotherhood of assassins, managing a fortress and engaging in covert missions against the Templars. This is achieved by building new rooms, unlocking upgrades, going on missions to gather resources and XP, levelling up your brotherhood, building more new rooms - yeah, you can see where this is going.

The missions sound a bit more interesting as you have to pick three assassins, and their skillsets and combinations can have a significant affect on outcome. There are over 40 characters to unlock by collecting bits of DNA, and thanks to the wonders of a new type of Animus they come from all over the world and throughout history, even though Assassin's Creed Rebellion is set in Spain during the Inquisition era. Returning names include Ezio, Aguilar, Shao Jun, Claudia and Machiavelli, but there are 20 brand new characters too.

There's a teaser above that doesn't give us any glimpse of gameplay but does show off the new art style. It's not as elegant a transformation as Fallout to Fallout Shelter, is it?
