Assassin's Creed Origins gets new game plus, Discovery Tour today
Assassin's Creed Origins is receiving a big patch today that brings the anticipated new game plus mode, and the museum-style Discovery Tour.
Patch 1.3 goes live today for Assassin's Creed Origins on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. You're looking at a 2.6GB download on PC, compared to 5.5GB on consoles.
The highlight addition is the new game plus mode, something Ubisoft first teased earlier this year. As you'd expect, new game plus lets you start fresh without losing your character progression.
The mode is available after finishing the story, and it'll let you bring over all of your equipment, abilities, crafting status, and inventory. Your character level and XP also carry over.
You are starting a new game, however, so story progression (quests, targets), world progression (locations), and any items received from quests will not show up until you finish the story missions they're associated with. This includes the hidden blade, though your crafting status will be correctly re-displayed as soon as you reacquire it.
By default, enemy auto level scaling will be activated when you start new game plus, though you can turn it off. What you won't be able to switch off, however, is enemy difficulty, which is going to be ramped up. The game will increase the general difficulty by one.
Meaning if you set it to easy, you'll get normal. Normal gets you hard and so on, to account for your increased power. New game plus automatically picks a separate save slot, so you can always go back to your old save.
Ubisoft said that there is a reward for completing Assassin's Creed Origins in new game plus, but didn't want to spoil the surprise.
Today's 1.3 update also adds the Discovery Tour. This is a non-combat, educational exploration of ancient Egypt that features 75 tours. Tours can be as short as five minutes, and as long as 25 minutes.
