How to Win Conquest Battles in Assassin's Creed Odyssey
Whenever you’re in any given region of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s huge Greek map, you’ll see a Nation’s Power meter in purple on the map screen of the game. This indicates how well protected the leader of said nation is, and the more full the purple bar is, the better protected the leader is by their troops.
To go about triggering the Conquest Battle to overthrow the leader of the region, you need to reduce the power of the leader. To do this quickly and easily, you need to find red forts dotted around the region, and go about taking them down. This can be done through killing all the elite troops in the fort, like the Captains, as well as burning piles of resources using your torch.
To find piles of resources in a fort quickly, use Ikaros from above. Your trusty eagle can hover in place with the left trigger, and scan the ground below, revealing piles of resources that are colored purple. Simple attack them with your torch, and they’ll go up in flames, dealing big damage to the leader’s hold over the region. Once you’ve done enough damage to the Nation’s Power meter, you’ll get a notification that a Conquest Battle is ready to kick off.

Starting the Conquest Battle
To start the Conquest Battle, simply head to either the red or the blue marker on the map. If the territory is currently controlled by Sparta, then the red marker will signify a defending battle, while the blue marker denotes the attacking side, or vice versa if the territory is controlled by an Anthenian leader.
Whichever you choose, the objective of the Conquest Battle is the same: kill more opposing soldiers, before they can kill all your friendly soldiers. The meters at the top of the screen signify the strength of each army, so if you chose red to attack, you’ll be whittling down the blue meter, and vice versa.
Note that if you want to get the Conquest Battle over with as quickly as possible, you need to do two things. Firstly, make sure to use your combat Abilities whenever they’re fully charged (for a recap of which combat Abilities are the best to unlock early on, head over to our Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Abilities guide), and secondly, target the Captains of the opposing force. Take down the Captains as quickly as possible, and you’ll have no trouble defeating the opposing army.
