Platform updates will be available to all who own the game, and will extend Steam Workshop implementation which is currently limited to player-created scenarios, as the support of mods is "a key goal."

Another addition will be the release of the Bootcamp update, which is a free package for those new to the shooter. It contains a varied introduction to the game, and provides veteran players with refinements to "certain vanilla features."

Besides platform updates, Bohemia Interactive will also release new DLC for Arma 3. Each will contain a specific theme, new sandbox assets, official scenarios, and features. DLC game features will be free to everyone, while DLC content will be paid.

The studio is currently working on a plan to "prevent a split in the multiplayer player-base," which will be explained in more detail in the next few weeks.

Arma 3 Helicopters is the first planned DLC and is scheduled for release in the second half of 2014. The Helicopters DLC is expected to feature new transport helicopters, an option to use Take On Helicopter’s RotorLib Flight Dynamics Model and several new game mechanics.

The Helicopters DLC will be followed up by the Arma 3 Marksmen DLC, which is expected to contain new weapons and a "focused overhaul of certain shooting mechanics."

A major expansion for Arma 3 is currently slated for late 2015 and will include a range of new sandbox content and features alongside a new terrain.
