Bethesda announces Dishonored for 2012 release

Bethesda's lifted the wraps of Arkane's first game under the publisher: a brand new IP called Dishonoured.

The publisher's confirmed it for a 2012 launch on PS3, 360 and PC.

The game, which is seen as a first-person stealth action-adventure game, is on the front cover of Game Informer's next issue, and is all about "assassination where you don't have to kill anyone," according to the mag among other things.

Morality and player choices will play a big part.

Dishonored's development is being led by Arkane co-founder Raf Colantonio and co-creative director - and co-creator of the Deus Ex series - Harvey Smith. Viktor Antonov, who designed City 17 in Half-Life 2, is also involved with the game.

The unveil comes nearly a week after it was discovered that Bethesda registered the trademark Dishonored.

Arkane was bought by Bethesda in 2010, and was formally announced at QuakeCon the same year.
