Apple may or may not be trying to buy Kinect masterminds PrimeSense - rumors, etc.
A report out of the Israeli business rag The Calcalist says that Apple is in the early stages of purchasing PrimeSense, a tech company based out of Tel Aviv that is responsible for the 3D sensors in the current-gen Kinect. The report says the deal would be for $280 million, which the paper acknowledges seems to be a really low number. On the other hand, TechCrunch claims to have a source within PrimeSense who says that report is merely a "delusion."
In fact, the alleged source says the story is a "journalist delusion based on unverified and twisted hints." Also: "280M? Come on! We’re worth 10 times that. :)" The smiley is a nice touch. Anyway, we don't really know anything. But if Apple is making this purchase, it would probably be for the sake of adding some gesture features for iDevices. But there is also that seemingly undying rumor about an Apple game console...
