Anthem is a 10 year journey for EA that starts at launch
EA is looking forward to many years of supporting Anthem.
Anthem was arguably EA's biggest game at E3 2017. After first showing a short teaser for it during its own conference, EA then blew the doors wide open when it debuted gameplay footage at Microsoft's showcase.
Needless to say, it looked great, even if we're still not entirely sure how it's all going to work. There was one thing you couldn't miss, though: how a lot like Destiny it seemed. That's because Anthem is EA's answer to Activision's popular shooter.
Speaking to Major Nelson during one of Microsoft's E3 livestreams, EA's Patrick Söderlund said that BioWare has been working on Anthem for almost four years. What's more, he confirmed that EA sees the launch next year as the start of a ten-year journey.
In case this sounds familiar, it's because Bungie, and Activision tooted the same horn prior to the launch of Destiny. Although the game would certainly be here ten years after launch, not all pre-launch promises will be kept.
For fans of this type of loot-driven, social games, this commitment no doubt comes as good news.
Anthem is out in 2018 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
