Animal Crossing: New Horizons sold about one million copies every day for the first 11 days
Animal Crossing: New Horizons has been a hit for Nintendo, and today we find out just how big.
Nintendo published its financials for the full fiscal year ending March 31. As part of its release, the company revealed new sales milestones for its biggest games.
One very interesting detail is that Animal Crossing: New Horizons shipped 11.7 million units in its first 11 days on sale. That figure grew to a massive 13.41 million sold to consumers in the first six weeks.
This makes Animal Crossing: New Horizons the Switch's best-ever launch, beating Pokemon Sword and Shield's 12.9 million, which the games achieved in the first nine weeks on sale. Overall, New Horizons now stands as the Switch's 7th best-seller, but if this momentum continues, it could end up even higher.
The Switch's top five best-selling games list looks about the same, just with updated figures. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe reigns supreme with 24.77 million, followed by Super Smash Bros. Ultimate at 18.84. Both Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey are tied at 17.41 million, followed closely by Pokemon Sword and Shield at 17.37.
