Animal Crossing New Horizons: How to Break Rocks

You'll need to clear rocks from your island if you want to build where you want. Here's how to break them.

Animal Crossing New Horizons lets you build up your very own village on a desert island. There's a lot of space to take advantage of, though at first you'll be blocked by rocks that will need to be removed. In this guide we'll teach you how to break rocks in Animal Crossing New Horizons. How to Break Rocks

To break rocks in Animal Crossing New Horizons you will need two things: a stone axe and fruit. The fruit can be whatever grows on your island. Once you have these two items, do the following:

  1. Eat the fruit, an icon will appear in the top left showing you have 1/10 of fruit consumed
  2. Approach the rock you wish to break and press A
  3. The rock will break, and your fruit meter will return to 0

Will Rocks Respawn/Come Back?

If you accidentally break a rock, and are worried about it coming back, worry not. Rocks will respawn on your island after a couple of days.

What Do You Get For Breaking Rocks

When you break a rock, you'll get one of a few items. These range from Bells to Stone (also Iron Nuggets, more info here), it's random so you never really know what you're going to get. Can You Move Rocks?

There is no way to move rocks in Animal Crossing New Horizons. You will need to break them using the method outlined above, and then wait for them to respawn.
