Angry Birds tie-in Bad Piggies release date, first footage

Bad Piggies, the latest Rovio effort, is due next week, and has players building vehicles to guide the Angry Birds' porcine foes through a series of obstacles.

According to Yahoo Games, Bad Piggies drops on September 27 for Android and iDevice, with PC and Windows Phone versions to debut at a later date.

As you'll see in the footage below, it's something of a puzzle game; players construct planes, trains and other automobiles to transport the helpless piggies from one place to the next. Doesn't anything in Rovio's world have legs?

Rovio apparently sees Bad Piggies as a whole new franchise and expects it to bloom the way Angry Birds has; the catapulting series has generated 1 billion downloads and a whole universe of merchandising opportunities.
