Analyst - GameStop's digital business revenue to hit $1.5 billion by 2014

In a Baird Equity Research report, analyst Colin Sebastian said the firm expects GameStop's digital business to hit $1.5 billion annually by 2014.

The report also notes GameStop executives projecting growth over the next three years with $500 million in sales projected for 2011, and that the firm expects to pull "a meaningful share from market leader Steam" with the recent re-launch of its Impulse service it acquired back in March.

No BF3 for Steam

In the report, it also seems to confirm Battlefield 3 will not be available to download through Steam - which would not be an unexpected move on EA's part since launching Origin.

"The upcoming EA title Battlefield 3 will be sold as a download through GameStop, but not through Steam," said the report. "Given Steam's dominance -- and insistence on users downloading a Steam client application -- publishers are likely to be receptive to a competitive alternative."

Xbox 720 and PS4 in 2014

As far as consoles were concerned, the report states GameStop doesn't expect new hardware from either Sony or Microsoft 2012, but the release of Wii U could make both companies reconsider current strategies.
