Amplitude releasing worldwide in January, $40 tier backers get it two weeks early
Harmonix has announced a release date for its successfully crowdfunded game Amplitude.
The game will be made available worldwide through the PlayStation Store on PS4 come January 5 and will run you $19.99. The PS3 version “will follow shortly behind.”
It features over 30 songs, really nice visuals, and a "concept album approach" to its narrative storytelling.
Amplitude contains both a single player campaign - which has a sci-fi vibe to it - along with competitive and cooperative local multiplayer modes. It also contains leaderboards.
The soundtrack includes music crafted by Harmonix’s in-house composers, as well as songs from video game composers such as Darren Korb (Transistor), C418 (Minecraft), Danny B (Crypt of the Necrodancer), and Jim Guthrie (Below).
Tracks created by the game's backers are also included such as one from Insomniac Games (Ratchet & Clank) and the Lab Zero (Skullgirls).
Kickstarter supporters who backed at the $40 tier or higher will be able to download the game on December 23.
Amplitude was originally set for release in March 2015 before being delayed into summer and then into January 2016.
