Akaneiro: Demon Hunter, Spicy Horse’s interpretation of Little Red Riding Hood, has a video available for viewing below.
Akaneiro is a free-to-play action RPG for PC, web and tablets, and uses the Red Riding Hood tale as its base with a Japanese folklore setting.
It follows a group of Akane, a kind of demon hunter, as they attempt to clear out yokai, which are supernatural monsters, from an abandoned village.
The game also deals with themes of colonisation and cultural clash, as Japan’s mainland culture meets the indiegenous Ainu of Hokkaido, and the west imposes contact on a closed-borders Japan. Sign up for the closed beta here.
