Adventure Capitalist team working on RuneScape spin-off
Lots of RuneScape news today, none of which is actually related to RuneScape.
RuneScape publisher Jagex has announced a new spin-off game called RuneScape: Idle Adventures.
Developed by Hyper Hippo, the team behind Adventure Capitalists, the free-to-play title will release on Android, iOS and PC in northern spring - with full cross-save support.
"It's an addictive, quick-to-play RPG boiled down to the basics of levelling and looting," Jagex said.
"In a typical session, you'll spend a few minutes making choices for your customisable hero, then leave him or her to train, fight and quest in real time. Chilled-out, low-intensity gameplay sits alongside deep character progression and a light-hearted, comedic story, with nuggets of RuneScape lore unveiled as you progress."
The player is cast as the wielder of an Elder Artefact known as the Needle, and must nurture and protect Gielinor, "doing whatever it takes – from fishing trout to grappling with the gods – to help those who call it home".
Since the project is being developed externally Jagex said players need expect no impact on the venerable MMORPG. It suggested fans might like to use Idel Adventures as a second screen distraction while playing RuneScape prime. More details will be revealed in a Twitch stream this week.
