"Huntress."

Yes, Hollow Knight: Silksong is still in development, even though it feels like years since we've seen or heard about the sequel from Team Cherry. This week though, the developer decided to reveal a brand new character for the sequel through a riddle posted to fans on Discord.

The Hollow Knight subreddit has splendidly recapped the short event in a post. It turns out Matthew Griffin, a playtester/marketer with Team Cherry, posted a riddle to the Team Cherry discord for fans to solve. The solution to the riddle turns out to be "huntress," which fans are logically assuming is the name of the new character.

Once solved, a .zip file opened up within the Discord group, which revealed the brand new character above. There was also a short gif of Silksong protagonist Hornet meeting the newcomer, as well as the text just below:

“Ssssppiiiderr, Your ssstench is strange yet similar... Have you come bearing the organs of others? Or would you offer your own? Gift your sshell's warm insidess as ssweet feast for my brood'sss birth-meal?”
A towering old predator, awaiting her children to come. Though her attention is fixed on her task, she seems to know much about the waning state of Pharloom, scorning the Citadel above and the hapless pilgrims that make their ascent towards it.

People are naturally assuming this is the in-game hunter's note that corresponds to the new character. Whatever the case though, we know precious little about "huntress" right now, but that's just the way Team Cherry likes it.

This might be the first Hollow Knight: Silksong information we've heard since late 2019, but the game is still in development. It'll be releasing at some point in the future for PC and Nintendo Switch.
