A new assist mechanic in Playerunknown's Battlegrounds will stop your teammates from stealing your damn kills

That one player in your squad who keeps hanging back and stealing kills from you isn't going to have that satisfaction anymore.

Of course, by the same token, if you've been consistently stealing other players' kills...I've got some bad news for you.

A new assist mechanic being introduced means that you'll now be awarded with a kill if you down an enemy and a teammate ends up finishing them off. This means that players won't feel the need to compete over downed enemies so much - putting a bullet in an enemy's brain is now a favour rather than a way of racking up your kill count.

If someone outside of your squad finishes a downed player, however, you'll get the assist and they'll get the kill. Watch out for that, obviously.

This is just one of many changes coming to the game. There's a new weapon due later this month, and right now two new maps and a PVP zombie mode are in the works. The game is also coming to Xbox One, so console players will be able to get in on the action by the end of the year.

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds is out now on PC.
