A Game of Thrones screens turn up, available for pre-order in Canada

Atlus sent us a very nice mail letting us know winter was coming. To those who are fans of George R.R. Martin, you already know what this means.

The mail was letting us know that Cyanide's RPG A Game of Thrones is already up for pre-order - in Canada at least - and while the official date for the game is set as early 2012, both VideoGamesPlus and Gamestop Canada have it down for March 6. We'll send a mail and ask.

According to the description, the 30-plus hours worth of gameplay will see players enter Westeros as one of two original characters "with disparate motivations, and both former soldiers of Robert's Rebellion," players will forge alliances and wage battles as "they play a pivotal role in the ongoing war for power between the Houses of Westeros."

This journey will apparently span numerous quests, and players will interact with "many characters and make key decisions that impact the realm."

It also sounds like players will get to speak to many characters from the fantasy series, and do more than just "pass by" landmarks from Martin's world as well. The combat, according to the description, mirrors the series' "thoughtful approach to war and politics: fighting slows but never stops entirely, forcing the player to make quick, pressured choices before their enemy strikes again."

VidoeGamesPlus was nice enough to post some shots of the game. Those are below, along with a look at the game's box art for both PS3 and Xbox 360.

The game is also to be made available on PC.
