3DS takes Australian handheld launch title
Nintendo is now the proud holder of the "Best handheld launch in Australia" record. What does that mean? 31,000 units sold.
The figures come from Nintendo, and are reported as sell-through obtained from retail partners.
The handheld narrowly missed out on topping the Wii's launch week effort of 32,000, but in its defence, only had four days to do it in.
For comparison, Nintendo reported 303,000 units sold in the UK's launch week, which is creeping up on ten times as many purchases. The population of Australia is around one-third of the UK's.
In the UK, the unit sold for about £210, while the down under price tag was AU $349 - around £225.
