3DS Powerplus promises to double handheld battery life

If you have a 3DS, you'll be well aware that no matter how great the handheld is, it's constantly held back by its lack of battery life. Fortunately, Hyperkin is coming to your rescue.

Hyperkin 3DS Powerplus

The 3DS Powerplus is - wait for it - yet another battery, but this time it looks like it's bringing something new to the party. Firstly, it's an 1800mAH battery instead of the default 1300mAH, which actually doubles the battery life of your system. You'll know when it needs to be charged thanks to the handy built-in LED indicator.

Sure, it makes things a little chunkier, but in some ways makes the system easier to hold thanks to the grip on the back. Early reports are quite negative about the battery's overhanging clips and awkward tapered design, but we're not making up our minds until we see the final retail version.

Due out later this year, expect to fork over US$19.99 for the 3DS Powerplus, the same price as Nyko's Power Pak+. Keep an eye on Hyperkin's website for more information.

Thanks, Gamertell!
