3DS: Nintendo recommends a break every 30-minutes when playing games on the handheld
Nintendo has said that if you wish to avoid getting motion sickness when playing 3D games on 3DS, take a break every 30 minutes.
According to a report over on Japanese newspaper Nikkei, 3D can affect folks who are prone to motion sickness, and may impact those who normally aren't. 3D has also been known to cause eye-fatigue.
Children under the age of six, it was noted, should steer clear of 3D as some reports claim the tech can cause a negative impact on retinal development - although the verdict on this is still out in the scientific community.
However, parental controls can limit what a child does on 3DS, something Nintendo has toted since the handheld was formally announced. The firm has also stated, repeatedly, to take breaks from the device should one start to feel the need. According to Nikkei, some game developers were also asked to put in a "game break" at regular intervals to force users to take a rest.
So, in other words, listen to your body. If you get queasy, or your eyes start to blur, take a break. And keep an eye on your child's health in all things gaming related. Common sense, really.
