3DS boycott planned by Facebook group

This is amazing. A Facebook group's been set up to boycott the sale of 3DS when it launches in the west next month.

"The Enough Project" has created the protest, saying that it won't support the new handheld until Nintendo stops using "conflict materials" whilst making 3DS units, adding that the company is "allowing people to die and suffer grave human rights abuses for the sake of video game console production."

"What I am asking you to do is to refuse to buy a Nintendo 3DS system until Nintendo announces plans to halt use of conflict minerals in production-- and this can only happen through monitoring of trade systems," said a rep for the group.

"I am not in any way opposed to the 3DS itself-- I actually think it's one of the coolest things I've never seen in person. But I am not going to be one of the millions who looks the other way purely for entertainment, and I hope you will join me."

Group's here if you want to take a look. After a Japanese launch over the weekend, 3DS launches on March 25 in Europe and March 27 in the US.

Thanks, D'Toid.
