2K Sports brings back $1M perfect game contest with MLB 2K11

2K has decided to bring back the contest it held last year with MLB 2K 10 where the first person to throw a perfect game wins $1 million.

This year, players must be the first to throw a perfect game in MLB 2K11, and you don't have to be 18 years old anymore to try your hand. Those who are 13 years of age can throw their hats onto the diamond as well.

2K Sports' marketing director, Chris Snyder said the firm was inspired to change the age requirements due to the son of MLB 2K11's cover athlete, Roy Halladay, trying his hand at it.

"Last year, Halladay's son, who is about 13-years-old, was telling us about how he was going for the perfect game and had it through seven innings," Snyder relayed to ESPN. "We were listening to him, but at the same time we were cringing a bit because the rules last year stated that you had to be 18-years-old to win the million dollars.

"So this year, we opened it up even further and dropped the age limit to 13. We took this directly from Roy's kid and wanted more people to have the chance to go for the perfect game this year."

Wade McGilberry of Semmes, Alabama was last year's winner, after throwing a verified perfect game on the very first day of the competition.

MLB 2K 11 ships on March 8, but instead of the contest starting on the day of release like last year, it won't start until April 1.
