Marvel's Avengers DLC, War for Wakanda, gets some cool concept art
Crystal Dynamics has revealed some new concept art for the Marvel’s Avengers expansion, War For Wakanda, that shows off more of the area and sets the scene for the upcoming DLC offering.
If you've been waiting patiently to hear more information about the War for Wakanda DLC that was detailed for the game back at the Square Enix showcase at E3 2021, you're in luck: the developer has shown a set of concept art for the expansion that shows off more of the setting after its latest “Updates with the Devs” livestream.
In the images below (courtesy of avengers_acy on Twitter), you can see some of the Wakanda biomes we'll be exploring, including a forested area, the city outskirts, a temple, and a waterfall/monument. You'll notice that the shot of Black Panther standing on the outcrop and examining the city is similar to the shot the studio used in the reveal trailer, demonstrating just how important concept art is when it comes to establishing mood and tone.
Check out the images below, and compare that to the reveal trailer at the foot of the page.
Unsurprisingly, Black Panther: War for Wakanda will add Black Panther as a playable character, who must defend Wakanda from Klaw who seeks to steal Vibranium from the region. The DLC will introduce the Wakandan Jungle Biome, new Klaw faction enemies, and more besides – though information about the expansion still remains fairly scant.
We do know that the developers will be taking inspiration from very early Black Panther source material – even taking direct inspiration from the hero's outfit from in very early days of his inclusion in the Marvel universe.
The Black Panther: War for Wakanda expansion is coming to Marvel’s Avengers in August, but no specific release date has yet been confirmed.
