Microsoft Flight Simulator is coming to Xbox Series X/S in July

Microsoft and developer Asobo have announced that Microsoft Flight Simulator is finally coming to console, with an Xbox Series X/S release date pegged for July 27.

At The Game Awards last year, Microsoft revealed that the game was coming to Xbox Series X/S in Summer 2021 – and now we have a daet!

In our review, we said it was “a remarkable release fit for seasoned pilots and beginners alike.” We weren’t alone in that opinion: by December 2020, the game had attracted more than 2 million players. That number is set to explode once again when the title lands on Xbox consoles later this year.

Check out the announcement trailer below.

"From light planes to wide-body jets, you'll test your piloting skills against the challenges of real-time weather, including accurate worldwide cloud cover and cloud layers, wind speed and direction, temperature, humidity, rain, and lightning - all in a dynamic and living world," says Microsoft in a blurb.

"With the power of satellite data and cloud-based AI, you'll travel the entire planet in amazing detail with over 37,000 airports, 2 million cities, 1.5 billion buildings, real mountain ranges, roads, trees, rivers, animals, traffic, and more."

The game will come to Xbox Game Pass as it arrives on Xbox Series X/S, too. If you want a reason to get into the game, you'll be pleased to know that a Top Gun crossover is coming to Xbox Series X/S and PC on November 19, too.

Games really are loving cashing in on nostalgia right now, aren't they?
