Resident Evil Village reportedly has a bonus difficulty that randomises items and enemies
A new rumor doing the rounds regarding Resident Evil Village seems to suggest there'll be an unlockable mode in the game that turns the survival horror game into a roguelike with randomized items and enemies.
A new rumor circulating about Resident Evil Village hints at an experimental new mode in the game that may unlock once players have completed the main campaign, offering a new challenge in Capcom's survival horror world.
Trusted insider AestheticGamer has posted a variety of notes on Twitter that reveal what players can expect from the game once they've cleared the main story. As per the insider, Capcom toyed with making a mode similar to Ethan Must Die from Resident Evil 7, but ended up expanding it into an 'expansive difficulty mode' in the game.
"I don't know the full details/final result of the mode, I feel they may talk about it before release, but I'm aware it makes the game more open, randomizes enemy & item placement, & scaled to be extremely difficult," concludes AestheticGamer.
If you like challenging gameplay and being perched on the edge of your seat as you fend off all manner of undead nightmares with little-to-no ammo in your guns, this mode is probably going to be for you.
Capcom has not confirmed these reports at the time of writing. Why should we trust what this Twitter user has to say? The insider has a pretty good track record when it comes to Capcom leaks, and horror game leaks in general.
We may hear more about this mode in the next Resi briefing that's due to take place later this month. “A new Resident Evil Showcase will be dropping this April,” Capcom has announced in an official blog. “We don’t want to spoil any surprises, so we’ll leave it to all of you to speculate on what this upcoming presentation might contain.”
Resident Evil Village is out May 7 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
