Sony Bend reportedly moved off Days Gone 2 to work on new Uncharted

Sony Bend, the developers of Days Gone, at one time pitched a sequel to Sony, but due to mixed critical reception, the project never came to fruition.

Despite the original title selling well, the development process was long, and due to the aforementioned critical reception, a sequel wasn't a viable option for Sony.

So, instead of Days Gone 2, according to a Blomberg report, the studio was tasked with working on a new Uncharted title.

Sony assigned a group from the studio to develop the new Uncharted game supervised by Naughty Dog. A second team from Sony Bend was then partnered up with Naughty Dog to work on a multiplayer game.

It seems many at Bend were unhappy with Sony's decisions, so some staffers and even a few of those in higher positions at Bend left the company. This is because many at the studio were afraid Bend would be absorbed into Naughty Dog. Subsequentially, the studio's leads asked to be taken off the project, and are now working on their own title.

It is unknown whether the new Uncharted game is still in development, but according to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, it was at least on paper at Bend.

Days Gone came out in April 2019, and at the time, VG247 called its story “very dumb” and pointed out a variety of technical issues.

The title has come to the PlayStation 5 running at 60fps at a dynamic 4K resolution, and it is also coming to PC this spring.  It is also one of the games available through PlayStation Plus this month.
