Oddworld: Soulstorm has given us the most detailed look yet at its gameplay.
As part of Sony's State of Play, Oddworld: Soulstorm developer Oddworld Inhabitants not only announced a release date for the game, shown new gameplay, the developer also confirmed that the PS5 version of the upcoming adventure will be free on PlayStation Plus in April.
Though it's a little weird to see one of the Plus games in April announced before we know what we're getting in March, it's nonetheless a welcome surprise. Oddworld: Soulstorm will be available to claim on April 6, and on sale on the same day on PC (EGS) and PS4.
On State of Play, creative director Lorne Lanning presented a lengthy look at gameplay. The trailer featured some of the more elaborate puzzles, and a few of the tools Abe has at his disposal to free his fellow Mudokon. Over the course of the game, you'll scavenge for resources, which you can use to buy new items for you and your Mudokon.
Soulstorm has a bigger focus on story, particularly for Abe. Lanning added that the power of new hardware allowed the team to bring its characters to life in unprecedented ways, and it shows.
Soulstorm also takes advantage of the DualSense. You'll be able to feel Abe's heartbeat in high-risk and action-filled moments through the controller's haptics.
