Horizon Forbidden West still appears to be on track for release this year

Development of Sony's line-up hasn't been majorly impacted by Covid.

Guerrilla Games' Horizon Forbidden West still seems on track for a 2021 release.

That's according to PlayStation boss Jim Ryan, who was asked by GQ whether the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic had impacted Sony's slate of content for this year. The exec said that Horizon Forbidden West, as well as Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Housemarque's Returnal are on track for release in 2021.

"We’re feeling pretty good about Returnal, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart and Horizon Forbidden West," Ryan said.

"And, you know, there are two approaches to this: you can either hold the date and put out the game irrespective of quality or you can ship it when it’s right. We have always taken the latter approach. There have been some fairly high-profile instances of publishers trying the former approach."

He continued: "It never works at the best of times. But I think in this world, where creative people are working remotely, you’ve just got to respect the fact that that development needs to take what it needs to take and to get the games right."

An advert in November 2020 pegged Horizon Forbidden West as coming out in the second half of 2021, while Ratchet & Clank recently got a June 11 release date.

Returnal was recently delayed until April from its initial March 19 release date, and Gran Turismo 7 got pushed back all the way to 2022.
