Ubisoft looking into Assassin’s Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs Legion PS5 upgrade issues

Some users still unable to level up their PS4 games.

French publisher Ubisoft is investigating why some PS5 users can't upgrade their versions of Watch Dogs Legion and Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

In a post on Twitter, the company's support account said it knew people were having issues with upgrading their PS4 versions of its games to the nice, shiny PS5 editions.

"We are aware players in the UK are experiencing issues upgrading physical versions of some Ubisoft games from PS4 to PS5," Ubisoft wrote.

"We're working to resolve this, and can confirm anyone experiencing this issue will still be eligible for their free upgrade. Stay tuned for more information."

This issue has been affecting users since the PlayStation 5 debuted in Europe on November 19. Ubisoft has given some advice about how to solve this, but it's still not clear why it is taking place. Users affected by this problem should insert their PS4 disc into their PS5, head to the game's hub and select 'View Product'. From there they should be able to upgrade the game to the fancier PlayStation 5 version.

Ubisoft announced at the end of October that Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Far Cry 6 and Watch Dogs Legion would be benefitting from console upgrades on Sony's PS5 and Microsoft's Xbox Series X and Series S machines. The French firm isn't the only company offering this kind of service on its games; Gearbox's Borderlands 3 benefitted from an upgrade for the new hardware on Day One, while users can also upgrade their PS4 and Xbox One versions of Marvel's Avengers and FIFA 21, too.
