It is now possible to use your existing Spider-Man PS4 save with the PS5 remaster
The long-awaited save transfer patch for Spider-Man is here.
Insomniac Games has delivered on its promise to allow Spider-Man Remastered players on PS5 to use their existing saves from the original PS4 game.
Both Spider-Man on PS4 and Spider-Man Remastered on PS5 received an update on Sunday that made exporting saves possible, and brought with it a few fixes and even some new content.
How to export Spider-Man PS4 saves to Spider-Man Remastered PS5
Patch 1.19 will first need to be installed on the PS4 version. As well as adding the save export feature, it also adds the three new suits that debuted with the PS5 remaster. Those being the Armored Advanced Suit, the Arachnid-Rider Suit, and the Amazing Suit.
Once you get the patch installed, you will see an option to export your save on the menu. This step must be done before Spider-Man Remastered could see the save file on PS5. Your existing cloud save won't work.
Patch 1.001, on the other hand, adds the ability to import saves into the PS5 remaster. It also brings a fix to the Rest Mode bug, and improves quality and performance of ray-traced reflections.
If you no longer have access to your PS4, you can do the exporting by downloading the PS4 version on your PS5 through backwards compatibility, though you may need to restart your PS5 after installing the patch, according to Insomniac community director James Stevenson.
Spider-Man Remastered is only available as part of the Ultimate Edition of Miles Morales, and there's currently no other way of obtaining it individually. The remaster brings updated assets, including ray tracing support, and offers a separate 60fps performance mode.
