Fall Guys has sold more than 10 million copies on Steam alone
Multiplayer hit Fall Guys continues to be an absolute home run for developer Mediatonic.
The chaotic and colourful Fall Guys has sold over 10 million copies on Steam.
That's according to – of all places – a financial report from engine firm Unity, who called out the game in its release to investors for the three months ending September 30, 2020.
At last official count – at the end of August – Fall Guys had sold more than seven million copies on the PC platform, meaning that the multiplayer hit sold three million units during September alone. God knows how many copies it has actually shifted at the time of writing. Lots! Loads! Muchos!
If that wasn't enough, Fall Guys is the most-downloaded PlayStation Plus game ever.
Following the game's launch, research firm SuperData said that Fall Guys was the biggest PC release since Overwatch back in 2016. After being rolled out, the title shot straight to the top of the Steam charts, selling two million copies in its first week. Within days of its launch, the game had attracted a ridiculous 120,000 concurrent players across PC and PS4. That's huge!
Fall Guys was developed by London's Mediatonic and published by indie label Devolver Digital. The title has been a clear success, but the studio pitched it to ten different companies before Devolver picked it up.
Mediatonic has been using the attention it has received from Fall Guys for good, thankfully. In September, the company raised $1 million for games industry charity SpecialEffect via a bidding war between brands and influencers to have specially designed costumes in the game.
