Assassin's Creed Valhalla day one player numbers double those of Odyssey

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is off to a great start.

Ubisoft has announced today that the number of active players on day one of the release of Assassin's Creed Valhalla is double that achieved by 2018's Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

The publisher expects these numbers to get even bigger as more and more people pick up the game with their new PS5 or Xbox Series X/S.

Though Ubisoft didn't disclose specific player numbers, it's not hard to see how the game attracted so many players on day one. Valhalla is the first mainline Assassin's Creed to launch into the Ubisoft Plus subscription service (formerly Uplay Plus), following its launch in 2019.

The game is also available on more platforms at launch than any other Assassin's Creed prior. Valhalla came out on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Stadia and Luna. Obviously, releasing on multiple platforms doesn't change the fact that people wanted to play Valhalla, which is why it's doing so well.
