P.T. can't be downloaded on PS5, but there may be a workaround to play it
The P.T. backwards compatibility situation on PS5 is a strange one.
Silent Hills' P.T., the horror phenomenon that fans still obsess over to this day, may die on the PS4. The game does not have a store page, meaning you won't be able to download it to your PS5.
This isn't really surprising; P.T. got pulled off the PlayStation Store all the way back in 2015. Those who installed the playable teaser while it was available can continue to play it, but they cannot re-download it.
On PS5, however, the situation is less clear. Konami told GamesRadar that "the content will not be available on the PS Store, so users won’t be able to re-download the content through the backwards compatibility feature to the PS5."
Which is technically true, but what about transferring the game over from PS4? We've asked Konami to clarify this point, but Sony recently said that the vast majority of PS4 games will work on PS5. Indeed, the backwards compatibility support page makes it clear that you'll be able to transfer your installed PS4 games to PS5 and play them there.
You can even install said digital games on an external drive and plug it into PS5 to achieve the same result. Technically, all of this suggests that P.T. will be safe, so long as you have it installed somewhere. Konami's new statement, however, casts some doubt.
We'll update this story when we hear back.
