Halo 3 rat mod has you desperately trying to gun down enemy vermin
Halo has a long history with modding, with ridiculous new updates to the game being published practically every day.
Earlier this week, we saw Halo: Covenant Edition – a mod that changes Halo: Combat Evolved into a game where you play as a Grunt and have to take down big bad Master Chief yourself.
Now, we’ve seen a creative new multiplayer mod arrive for Halo 3 that turns you and your enemies into rats.
Yep, that’s right, rats. Because Halo wasn’t already silly enough. You play as a rat model taken from the game files and, armed with your firearm of choice, the aim is to scamper and hop around the map to finish off your foes to become the one true rat king.
We didn’t know we needed to see a swarm of particularly well-armed vermin scuttling about in the snow today, but watching the little critters try desperately to land a potshot on a target much smaller than your usual Halo enemy is, at least, a pleasant distraction.
The mod is likely inspired by the ‘halo 3 rat’ meme that went viral last month, and which has rapidly become a big Reddit in-joke.
A cursory look at the comments shows practically everyone replying with simply ‘halo 3 rat’ and nothing else. We expect this meme is going to get worse before it gets better.
