Fortnite is not getting the Chapter 2 Season 4 update on iOS or Mac
Epic Games has confirmed that Fortnite players on Apple devices won't be able to join the Season 4 fun alongside everyone else.
Fortnite's Season 4 in Chapter 2 kicks off today across all platforms, except those run by Apple. Given the two companies' current dispute, Apple decided to pull Fortnite off the App Store earlier this month.
Although Epic tried to stop Apple from doing this before a verdict in the main lawsuit has been reached, it wasn't successful. As a result, the developer explained in an updated blog post that it simply won't be able to update the iOS and Mac versions of Fortnite to version v14.00.
"Apple is blocking Fortnite updates and new installs on the App Store, and has said they will terminate our ability to develop Fortnite for Apple devices," Epic wrote.
"As a result, Fortnite’s newly released Chapter 2 - Season 4 update (v14.00), will not release on iOS and macOS on August 27."
It's worth reiterating that Apple is blocking Fortnite updates because Epic violated App Story policies by circumventing Apple's payment system and offering its own, direct alternative.
The situation is a little better on Android. Though the game has been taken off the Play Store, it remains available through Epic's own app, as well as the Samsung Galaxy Store. Those portals carry Fortnite's most updated version.
