The Lord of the Rings: Gollum official teaser trailer revealed online
A brand new teaser trailer for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum recently dropped online, offering fans a look at what to expect from Daedalic's upcoming Smeagol sim.
You can check out the new trailer below, which offers fans a fresh look at how Daedalic intends to treat the beloved villain who is also sometimes nice.
The trailer opens with some rather rank-looking dead fish, which is quite an emphatic implementation of an atmosphere that screams "Gollum." There's lots of lovely cave paintings too - it seems Gollum is quite the artiste.
After that we get a look at him knocking about on all fours, scrambling across treacherously jagged rocks in his little boxer shorts. This is the Gollum we all know and love.
Meanwhile, Mt. Doom is visible in the distance, as Saruman's crow-like Crebain can be seen flying across Mordor, keeping an eye out for anyone that might give the big boss a hard time. Gollum initially shits himself when he sees them, but before long he reckons they're well on their way back to Isengard and steps back out into the open, gazing longingly at the fires that will one day see him temporarily reunite with the One Ring. Sad when you know what happens next.
The best part of the trailer is the last bit though, where it fades out to a title screen and Gollum says, "Gollum." It sounds very like Andy Serkis' version of the iconic little troublemaker, which is good, because Andy Serkis is good. However, he doesn't look like that version, which is certainly interesting given the character's global ubiquity in the wake of Peter Jackson's illustrious trilogy.
In related news, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is coming to both Xbox Series X and PS5. It's also coming out on PC, and is expected to launch at some point in 2021. If you're curious, you can check out some more screenshots of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum at the link.
