Phantasy Star Online 2 is coming to Steam next week

Phantasy Star Online 2 players on PC will, soon, no longer have to put up with Windows Store bullshit to play the action MMO.

Sega has announced that Phantasy Star Online 2 is coming to Steam on August 5. This is the same free-to-play version available today on the Windows Store and Xbox One.

This also means that, much like the existing releases, the Steam version will only be available in North America.

The Steam version of Phantasy Star Online 2 features full cross-play and cross-progression with Xbox One, and the Windows Store/Game Pass version. The Steam release also coincides with the launch of the game's Episode 4 update.

As you might expect, Sega created some in-game items based on Valve's games to celebrate the launch. You'll find special outfits that turn your character into Morgan Freeman, or Alyx Vance. You'll also be able to bring along Portal 2's Wheatley. There's an assortment of other cosmetics, too, such as dance emotes and Team Fortress 2 and Left 4 Dead-themed items like weapon camos and hair styles.

All of that can be yours simply by logging into the game and playing, with the rewards split into five different sets. Catch how it all breaks down on the official blog.
