Skyrim player recreates The Witcher combat using 11 mods
With the help of mods and a few tweaks, you can sort of make the fighting in Skyrim look like The Witcher games.
The Skyrim mod scene is as vibrant as ever. If you're a fan of Bethesda's work, there's a good chance you also like The Witcher series. Even setting aside game feel, combat in The Witcher games is fundamentally different from the relatively simple mechanics of The Elder Scrolls series.
Which, as you may have already guessed, opens the door for mods to fill that gap by attempting to recreate Witcher mechanics within Skyrim. Several of these exist, each focusing on one aspect such as the potions, Signs and the basic fighting mechanics and hit effects.
YouTube user Lowender decided to put the best of them together to see how much of the Witcher combat can actually be replicated in Skyrim. To do this, they used 11 different Skyrim Special Edition mods to modify everything from animation to spell casting and even sword play.
There's also Geralt's look and his iconic swords, the job of two of the chosen mods. The list includes popular mods like Ultimate Combat and Skyrim Witcher Experience, of course, as well more interesting, limited mods like this one that makes lock-on possible. There's even a mod that brings a Sekiro flavour to combat.
Considering Skyrim's janky nature, the end result is fairly respectable. As you can see, the flow is very similar to that of The Witcher games, with offensive/defensive Signs breaking up the flurry of attacks and dodges. They even manage to use concoctions mid-fight.
