PS5 feature lets you load specific parts of a game without having to launch it first

PlayStation 5 has a feature that allows you to load a specific game mode from the home screen, something which was previously touched upon in a Wired interview with Sony architect Mark Cerny.

Today, this PS5 feature, apparently called PlayStation 5 Activities, was detailed a bit more in a GameRactor Spain article.

The article featured a talk with WCR 9 director Alan Jarniou and product manager Sebastien Waxin (via Wccftech, Gematsu).

According to the now-removed article, the PlayStation 5 Activities system will "propose instant deeplink links from the start menu to directly access races or parts of the game."

Basically, the feature makes it possible to launch into specific parts of the game from the PS5 OS without having to launch the game first.

Again, Cerny touched upon this before, but now we know what the feature is called and exactly what it does.

Cerny said choices would be made available in the UI, and will allow players to "jump right into" whatever they like.

"Multiplayer game servers will provide the console with the set of joinable activities in real-time," he told Wired in October.

"Single-player games will provide information like what missions you could do and what rewards you might receive for completing them-and all of those choices will be visible in the UI. As a player, you just jump right into whatever you like."

PS5 is out this holiday season.
