Commander Keen mobile game appears to have been cancelled
The Commander Keen game this story probably just reminded you off may not happen.
At E3 last year, Bethesda announced a very different Commander Keen game for mobile. It was big enough to warrant its own segment as part of the publisher's E3 show.
The debut trailer gave us a look at the new art style and character designs. It wasn't particularly well received, though fans were mostly confused about the cartoony, lighthearted new direction. Now, one year later, all mention of the reboot has been scrubbed from Bethesda's various websites.
As spotted by Nitomatta, the game's web page now redirects to the Bethesda site homepage. There's no longer any trace of it on social media. The only thing I found was an E3 blog post recapping the announcement. The video embedded in that page has also been made private.
The publisher did not announce a release target, and has yet to explain the reason behind these changes. It's possible the game has been quietly cancelled, but there's also the chance it's being rebooted and will show up again in the future.
Bethesda did not return repeated requests for comment.
