Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a standalone title [Update]
Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a standalone title.
Insomniac Games has clarified that Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a standalone title coming to PS5.
There was a bit of confusion on whether it was an expansion to the original title earlier today when it was reported in The Telegraph the game was "an expansion and an enhancement to the previous game."
Insomniac cleared it up rather fast, and said it will discuss in the game in more detail at a future date. The original story follows.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales was undoubtedly one of the bigger surprise reveals in the PS5 games event, but Sony has now clarified some details that put a bit of a damper on the excitement.
Sony's EVP head of European business, Simon Rutter, has revealed to The Telegraph [paywall] (via VGC) that Miles Morales is at once an expansion to the PS4 game, as well as a remaster of sorts that upgrades the original content.
"I guess you could call it an expansion and an enhancement to the previous game," said Rutter.
"There’s a substantial Miles Morales component - which is the expansion element – but also within the game as well there’s been major enhancements to the game and the game engine, obviously deploying some of the major PlayStation 5 technology and features."
Part of the reason behind this decision is to allow players of the original, PS4 game to see how much it benefits from the PS5 hardware.
Rutter added that it's "more akin to an expansion bolted on to an upgraded version of the original title."
Although Rutter's comments make sense, they'll undoubtedly leave some disappointed to see the expansion skip PS4. Beyond that, this also helps set expectations correctly as to the volume of content in the expansion. Things would play out differently if this was a whole new game, of course.
Spider-Man: Miles Morales is coming to PS5 this holiday.
