Helicopters removed from Call of Duty: Warzone due to recent glitch
This week's Call of Duty: Warzone playlist update came with an unexpected short-term solution to the helicopter glitch problem.
As promised, Call of Duty: Warzone and Modern Warfare got this week's playlist update last night.
On top of all the announced additions, such as a 24/7 playlist for Shipment, Plunder Blood Money and so on, the update also took helicopters out of Warzone BR. If you don't keep up with the battle royale mode, this might seem random, but it's actually a good call on Infinity Ward's part.
Warzone helicopter glitch
Over the past week or so, players have been reporting an especially frustrating exploit where a full squad glitches under the map in their helicopter, giving them free reign to hit all unsuspecting players above ground. There's little an honest player can do to defend themselves from this. The glitch was popular enough that multiple people ran into it over the spam of just a few days.
Under-the-map exploits are not new to Warzone or even Modern Warfare, but this one was a bit extreme. For one thing, the mobility of a helicopter is unprecedented compared to running into a solo player glitching under the map. It's even more effective because a full team in the helicopter could focus down a single player much faster than one person under the map would.
Helicopter Glitch under the map?? Please fix this game... from r/Warzone
Infinity Ward didn't say why helicopters were removed, but it's likely because of this exploit. The developer may also want to re-balance the vehicle in separate ways, just like it did for cargo trucks when it reduced their speed and increased turn radius.
