Borderlands 3 Mayhem 2.0 coming April 23

Gearbox Software has provided an April 23 launch for Borderlands 3's Mayhem Mode 2.0.

As promised back in March, Mayhem Mode 2.0 is coming to Borderlands 3 and it launches this week.

Starting April 23, you will be able to participate in ten "increasingly challenging" Mayhem levels in order to acquire some of the most "powerful Legendary loot" in the game.

Mayhem Mode will unlock when you finish the main campaign, and with Mayhem 2.0, you can expect a number of improvements over the current mode.

Once live, you will no longer have to visit the pedestal on Sanctuary 3 to activate Mayhem Mode or the level. Instead, the option will be available through a new tab on your ECHO Device menu. In multiplayer games, Mayhem level will be determined by the host. When you matchmake for multiplayer, you will be matched with similar Mayhem level players.

There will be more than 25 all-new modifiers that can be applied to the game ranging from Easy, Medium, Hard, or Very Hard.

For example, Easy modifiers are largely helpful, while Medium modifiers are more challenging. Hard or Very Hard are pretty self-explanatory.

Modifiers are selected at random, and the number of modifiers and difficulty ratings will be the same for each Mayhem level, as shown in the blog post.

As you improve your Mayhem levels, the quality of weapons dropped will also improve. Gearbox used the Cutsman submachine gun as an example, stating the version that drops in Mayhem level 2 will be more powerful than one that drops in Mayhem level 1. Also, the damage boost gained from weapons in one Mayhem level will "help you to prepare" for the next level.

You can expect eight new Legendary weapons from certain bosses only when playing at Mayhem level six or higher. One of these is the Sand Hawk, which is a Legendary automatic sniper rifle. It fires a line of nine bullets and "mimics the way a hawk flaps its wings."

More information on Mayhem 2.0 can be found in the link to the blog post.
