Animal Crossing: New Horizons Rusted Parts - What do they do?
Who says that recycling is a thankless task? Rusted Parts are unique items in Animal Crossing: New Horizons which are used to build similarly unique furniture. Here’s where you can find them, and what to do with them when you get some.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons How to get Rusted Parts
Rusted Parts in Animal Crossing: New Horizons are linked to the down-on-his-luck seabird who lands, washed up, on your beach every now and then.
Next, you need to check your Recycling Box. If I had to speculate, I’d say that some leftover communicator parts get left in the sand after Gulliver leaves. Those parts then go rusty, are found by another resident, and are deposited in the Recycling Box for you to find.
The Recycling Box is in Residential Services, and fills up naturally over time. After a successful visit from Gulliver there’s generally a Rusted Part waiting for you.
Check back regularly to make sure that you don’t miss out on anything from the Recycling Box. When it’s full, Tom Nook starts destroying the oldest items in there.
What are Rusted Parts used for in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?
Rusted Parts are an integral part of a unique furniture item in Animal Crossing: New Horizons - namely the Robot Hero.
This massive toy is a badge of honor for the most devoted island dwellers, and requires a hefty input of resources to craft.
It requires:
- 1 Rocket Furniture item
- 1 Gold Armor Clothing item
- 30 Rusted Parts
- 90 Iron Nuggets
- 10 Gold Nuggets
Tangentially, helping Gulliver 30 times is the requirement to craft the unbreakable golden shovel, so you’re not taking the time just to grab a sweet looking robot toy.
We’ve not actually managed to grab all the necessary gear yet, but here’s a sneak peek at what the Robot Hero looked like in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp:
How to get multiple Rusted Parts at once
There is a method for getting multiple Rusted Parts at once, but requires leaving ol' Gulliver to his own devices! First, collect his Communicator Parts but then save the game and come back the next day without returning them to Gulliver. The next day you'll have 5 Communicator Parts in your inventory.
