Sony offering Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection as a free download, Germany and China will get Knack 2 instead
Sony has announced a Play At Home initiative where it is handing out two free games for all PS4 users to play while in self-isolation. They are Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Journey.
Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and thatgamecompany's Journey are free to download from April 15 - May 5 as part of a new Play At Home initiative announced by Sony.
PS4 users in China and Germany will not get the Uncharted collection, but Knack 2 instead.
The collection, as you know, includes the first three games in the series: Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception. All versions of the Nathan Drake collection contain each game’s single-player campaigns remastered in 1080p and 60fps. It was originally released in 2015.
"During these days of physical distancing, fans have turned to gaming for moments of respite and enjoyment. At Sony Interactive Entertainment, we are privileged to bring this much-needed entertainment. We know this is just one small step and we are thankful to be able to offer this support to our players, our communities, and our partners," said Sony's Jim Ryan in a blog post.
As part of the Play At Home initiative, Sony is establishing a fund to help smaller independent game studios that "may be experiencing financial difficulties continue building great experiences for all gamers," said Ryan.
The fund will see Sony donate $10 million to support indie developers which are "vital to the heart and soul of the gaming community."
It was also announced today thatgamecompany's indie adventure Journey would be released on Steam June 11.
