Sea of Thieves celebrating second anniversary, free to play for all Xbox Live members this weekend
Sea of Thieves is free this weekend to all Xbox Live subscribers, and the game is celebrating its second anniversary with some in-game goodies.
Sea of Thieves is free to play for all Xbox Live subscribers now through March 23.
To celebrate the game's second anniversary, if you play between now and March 27, you'll receive the special 'X Marks the Spot' Eye of Reach. The weapon will appear in your armoury immediately upon entering the game.
A ship front designed after Killer Instinct character Spinal can also be claimed by watching the Sea of Thieves anniversary stream today from 5pm-7pm GMT. Be sure you have your Microsoft and Sea of Thieves accounts linked in order to claim the ship front.
Those who play the game through Xbox Games Pass Ultimate can claim the Ori-inspired ship. It is available now and exclusive to Game Pass Ultimate subscribers.
From today, you will also be able to "relive some of the greatest moments" from the last two years. Take a wack at the Hungering Deep, Cursed Sails and Forsaken Shores and you can grab cosmetics previously limited to the first time these updates launched. For example, if you missed your chance at Merrick's drum the first time around, you'll have the opportunity to earn it now.
Finally, from March 30, you'll also be able to unlock Bleeding Edge ship cosmetics. Throughout that week, you will be challenged with completing three objectives to earn a Bleeding Edge-inspired sail, flag and hull designs. You'll also be able to track your progress through these objectives on the Sea of Thieves website.
The most recent free content update for the game, Heart of Fire, went live on March 19.
